Brief Report on the Expert talk on ‘Essential Skills for Analytical Thinking and Strategic Reasoning- An Introduction’  organized by the Centre for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship in association with IQAC on 30th September 2024 at Centre for Competitive Studies Hall from 11:30 am to 1 pm

Centre for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship has organized the Expert talk on Essential Skills for Analytical Thinking and Strategic Reasoning- An Introduction organized by the Centre for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship in association with IQAC on 30th September 2024 at Centre for Competitive Studies Hall from 11:30 am to 1 pm. The programme was delivered by Mr. C.S.Renjit, the International Consultant, World Bank and FAO to United Nations. Mr. Renjit was the Development Advisor to the Government of Kerala (2016-2021). He has a broad-based experience in strategic policy dialogue, mentoring human resources and skills empowerment, oversight monitoring and evaluation, institutions, and systems development. Spanning over 11 countries, his sectoral exposure includes Urban services and infrastructure, rural and community development, Water Resources Management, Natural Resources Management, livelihood development including skilling and entrepreneurship development, Disaster management, etc. He is a learning specialist, an established columnist with leading dailies and magazines.

The programme started at 11:30 a.m. and the welcome address was delivered by Rev. Adv. Joseph Venmanath, Director, MGCL. The Expert talk emphasised the relevance of skills for Analytical thinking and Strategic Reasoning in the career journey of a legal practitioner. The talk focused on System 1 thinking – Impulsive thinking and System 2 thinking - Rational thinking. it also dealt with the Cognitive errors that might play in between these two types of thinking and the drawbacks of it. The role played by heuristics in analytical thinking and strategic reasoning was also dealt with. How the lawyers can imbibe these analytical thinking skills and skills for strategic reasoning was also dealt with. The session was informative, interesting and interactive in nature and highly customized catering to specifically meet the needs of law students. The programme was attended by 120 students from seventh semester BBA LLB and BCOM LLB of MGCL. The session was well received by the faculty and students. Director presented a memento to the Expert as a token of gratitude on behalf of the MGCL family. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr.Leeba Babu, Associate Professor and Faculty coordinator of the Centre for Skill development & entrepreneurship. Mrs. Vrinthu J.P. and Mr.John P.D., Assistant Professors and Faculty coordinators of the Centre also attended and coordinated the programme. Masters of the ceremony were Mr. Adnan Afsal and Ms.Firdous A, Fifth BBA LLB. The programme came to an end by 1 p.m.
