End Semester Exam

General Instructions

Semester examination will be conducted by the university. In order to have a pass in the semester examination, the candidate has to secure minimum 50% marks for each subject. If the candidate fails to secure minimum 50% marks in internship, project and viva-voce, he/she has to complete the internship, project and viva-voce in the next academic year without obtaining re-admission. Maximum period allowed to complete the course shall be ten semesters plus four semesters from the date of admission.

Maximum five days study leave will be given for regular examinations and no study leave for supplementary examinations.

Those who are attending other offices, chamber of advocates and courts on account of project, internship, chamber work and court practice will get attendance for the days assigned by the teacher concerned.

A candidate who obtains pass marks (50%) in one or more papers, but fails in other papers in a semester is exempted from appearing in the papers in which he/she has obtained pass marks.

The candidate shall compulsorily attend all the components of all practical papers.

There shall be no chance to improve either the internal assessment marks or written examination marks.

Classification of results is as shown below:-

Distinction – 80% and above

First Class - 60% and above, but below 80%

Second Class-50% and above, but below 60%

Ranking shall be done on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidate in the whole examination (Ten semesters) passed in the first chance. First class shall also be awarded to candidates who passed the whole examinations with 60% or above along with the immediate junior batch and not thereafter.

A candidate admitted to this course shall complete the course and shall pass all papers within a period of ten semesters plus four semesters from the date of admission.

Publication of Results

The results of the Tenth semester examination shall be published only after the candidate has passed the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth and Ninth semester examinations.

Award of Degree

A candidate who successfully completes all the Ten semesters shall be eligible for the award of B.A.,LL.B/B.B.A.,LL.B/ B.Com.,LL.B Degree respectively from the faculty of Law, University of Kerala.
